Do you know the ab fab history behind Amsale gowns? Aside from being one of the sweetest names in bridal couture, Amsale (pronounced Ahm-sah’-leh) Aberra is an Ethiopian transplant who came to the US in the ’80s to study Commercial Art. After graduating from UMass with a degree in Political Science, and an economic need forced her to sew her own clothes during undergrad, she discovered a passion for fashion and enrolled in New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Then, in 1985, fruitless searches for her own wedding dress spawned an idea to create her own, as well as design and custom make dresses to others out of her own NYC apartment. And, well, the rest is history.
In Dallas, Amsale gowns can be found exclusively at Stanley Korshak 214.871.3611 and Neiman’s 800.937.9146.
